Würzburg …
I arrived in Wuzburg on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 4th. Pretty sure I sat in first class for one of my longer trains, and thanks to the language barrier- I got away with it! Once I arrived, I locked my luggage in a storage locker. Then I headed into the town to explore until my host would pick up me up. I went on a quest for lunch, and ended up getting two broughtwurts (spelling?!) sandwiches because I was so hungry! I then made my way up to the Fortress Marienberg and took the long way! The fortress was surrounded by vineyards and provided an amazing view of Würzburg! The path up had a bunch of awesome small stone passageways through parts of the hill. Once I finally made it to the fortress, I explored inside- well the parts you didn’t have to pay for! Then I headed back down and toured the town. Went to the Würzburg Residence, a massive and beautiful palace, and hung out in the gardens until I met my host.

Rothenburg/Wolfsau…
Marcus picked me up after he was done working in Wurzburg and I got to experience being on the Autoban! It’s like organized chaos. We went to Wolfsau, my host’s little village in the countryside- 4 miles out of Rothenburg. It is an adorable village with only 25 people living there! Their house was so nice, I got my choice of two rooms even! =P From the room I picked, I had a beautiful view of the country side and their neighbor’s horses. Sounds funny, but I enjoyed how mountainous Rothenburg was! I like mountains because they made me feel more at home.
Since there was no public transport from their house, they were okay with me eating their food- which was very nice! We would eat dinner together at night and watch football. Nadine, my other host, was such a sweetheart. She loved the series ‘Smallville’ so we watched that together a couple times, because she loved it and it was the only thing in English!
Also at Marcus and Nadine’s place, they had a whirlpool tub. It was amazing. Such a great way to recover =P
On Thursday, I think, Nadine worked and Marcus was helping a friend with her car. I went with Marcus and his friend into Rothenburg. We were going to the ‘Brewing Master’ when we stopped to help out a retarded man that fell and was bleeding. They were obviously speaking in German, so I only had a little clue what was going on! It was crazy! Lol after a half hour of that, we made it to the ‘Brewing Master’- the local brewery owner. Got to meet him and everything, love small towns- Marcus knew everyone! Then Marcus’s friend bought us a classic German meal- a few different types of sausages with some potatoes. It was delicious and all local! Afterwards, they went to work on the car and I stayed in Rothenburg to explore! =)
Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures because my camera’s battery issues. But I stole some from the internet to show you Rothenburg.
Rothenburg is the ‘Christmas Town’. There is a Christmas Museum and a Christmas store that is open all year round. The store was massive! I spent so much time in the store, I didn’t want to go through the museum! Thought of my mum and mam mam the whole time I was in there! They would have loved it! Afterward I kept wondering through the town. I got a ‘snowball’ a Rothenburg exclusive treat that Marcus told me I must try! It was delicious, there is a picture below. I climbed the city walls and walked around on them for about half of the border of the town. I got a beautiful blue scarf for only 3 euro! The town was so beautiful and picturesque! I loved it. Marcus and his friend picked me up a bit later than planned, but I didn’t mind because I could explore more!

Friday, April 6th, was good Friday. Nadine and Marcus had plans for most of the day. So I had the house to myself, well Ova (their cat) was there too. I just took it easy and did laundry- for free! =P Watched a lot of Smallville and figured out my new plan =) Then on Saturday, I headed for Meinining.

Hello B! I want a snowball! They look so yummy! Sounds like you meant some really nice people in your travels!! Stay safe and see you soon. Love you lots!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the Autoban was built like over six feet thick?! To handle the weight of Hitlers "war machine" vehicles! Now that's s road! Your visit was like you stepped in to a fairy tale : ) Your hosts are so nice. Christmas town! How wonderful! Looove you!!
