On the train ride to Lucerne, there were lots glances of the Alps. Each time they took my breath away. So beautiful I can’t even describe. I arrived in Lucerne around one on Friday, April 13th. My host was not able to meet until about 6ish, so I stored my bags in a locker for 7 bloody Francs. Before exploring the town, I tried to figure out about my camera. Was planning on buying a new one for 50 Francs, but it was out of stock. I took that as a hint that I shouldn’t buy a new camera. =P I went to a camera store and asked if they could just charge my batteries (I have 2) for me, they did- but for 5 Francs each.
Most of where I went on Friday, I went back to on Saturday to take pictures of with my host’s camera. Lucerne isn’t very big so it wasn’t a problem. Except- I climbed the city walls to get an amazing view of the Alps, it was stunning. The way the towers/walls were set up to tour was weird, but there were tiny exhibits in them which was cool. One tower I went in had plexiglass set up by the entrance displaying information. When I was exiting the tower, I thought I saw a beautiful picture on the plexiglass info board- but it was really the refection of the view. Not sure if I described it the best, but it was such an awesome moment! I tried to climb the walls again during the other days I was there, but the visibility was terrible and you could not see the alps =(
I picked up my batteries, got some pasta to make for dinner, and met my host Chris. His place was pretty nice but his couch was really uncomfortable! Oh well, I was so tired it didn’t matter!
On Saturday, Chris went snowboarding for most of the day. Thankfully he had spare keys/was okay with me staying at his place alone- so I was able to sleep in finally. During the day, I explored the town. Lucerne also had a ‘Lucerne Card’ but you did not get in anywhere for free, you would just get discounts- so I didn’t think it was worth it.
Going to caption my pictures for this blog rather than rambling about my day. =P

| The Chapel Bridge, Lucerne's iconic landmark and the oldest wooden bridge in Europe | | |
 |
| The Reuss River ran through Lucerne, the water was so ridiculously clean and clear! | | |
 |
| The beautiful 'Dying Lion of Lucerne'. It is in memory of the deaths of the Swiss soldiers. Does anyone see the second animal in the sculpture? | |

| Just one of the many buildings decorated in this style =) |

| Would be a great view of Lucere and the Alps, but it was raining =( |
 |
| The second animal in the sculpture is a pig.... it's in the surrounding outline of the lion. Apparently, the sculptor had a falling out with someone associated with the contracting of the memorial that he created the pig shape out of spite. Learned this from my host! |
I don't see the pig :(
ReplyDeleteI like Lucerne! Oldest wooden bridge : ) good photos, thanx for climbing the wall ! Lol. Lion monument is awesome! I see the pig, in the outline of the opening, the lion is in. Glad you got some rest too Love <3
