I arrived safely in London yesterday at 10:30 (4:30 your time). But I just got internet a few hours ago!
My flight over was awesome, I was in the 'World Traveler Plus' section- which basically was like a class between 1st and coach. The flight was 6 hours and went 3,800 miles. ;)
I am studying though a program called CEA (Cultural Experiences Abroad), and the director picked me up at the airport. But since she was running late from picking up another student, she had the taxi driver wait for me with a sign with my name on- which was awesome. =) The taxi driver drove right through Central London, so I was able to see all the stereotypical landmarks right away. lol
The director of my program treated me and the four other students for lunch. She also gave us a quick tour of campus and the town.
I am in New Cross; it is about 10-15 minutes away from Central London. There are different zones of the city Central London is Zone 1 and I am in Zone 2. Central London is the tourist area with all the landmarks- Parliament, Big Ben, and the London Eye etc. New Cross is basically a college town and very residential.
I am living in a resident’s hall at my university. I have my own tiny room with an even smaller bathroom. It was not cleaned at all though =/ I am all settled into the room, took it easy last night as did everyone else because of jet lag! lol 'Sainsbury' is the British version of Wal-mart basically- but better =P Already made a few stops there getting things I needed.
Goldsmith's is such a charming campus with so much character, I love it already. Everyone is so friendly and laid back! I am taking two Theater classes. Both have trips to theaters- that are already paid for! I'm so excited- we go somewhere every week! =) I had orientation stuff almost all day today. I set two different alarms and neither went off this morning- whoops! =P no big deal though. All of the other abroad students are really awesome and friendly. They are mostly here on their own too, but a few came from the same school together.
I am going to try to post at least something little everyday/days if I get time. ...We'll see how that works out =P
I will hopefully heading into Central London tonight with a couple of girls. We will probably go to the 'Hobgoblin' first. The Hobgoblin is a quaint pub that is right off campus. It serves Tai food too! lol
The idealistic London red double decker buses are everywhere. My hall is right off a main road- you see at least four of them at a time. They are the public bus system. I could even see so many of them from the plane!
The song 'Good Life' has been stuck in my head since I woke up to the London horizon on the plane yesterday =)
Post again later! Cheers!

ReplyDeleteSleep is over-rated—you can do that back in the states. Do as much as you can, see as much as you can, and go to as many places as possible! Kiss as many blokes (guys) you can. You’ll never forget a moment.
ReplyDeleteHave you figured out Dr. Who yet? If not, seen me a picture of you peeking out of a blue police-box. If you have, send me a picture of you hugging (kissing, fondling, whatever) Matt Smith.
