A month in London!

I can't believe its already been a month since I arrived in London! But, it does seem like I've been here for that long. There are stages of culture shock they warn you about- and I'm kinda feeling them. And yes, even though they speak English- its a completely different culture. Some important people are trying to come visit me =P I hope it works out! I'm starting to plan my trip on the Eurail, but there are still things I want to do in London I am planning. Any may be going to Amsterdam! Not sure if I can afford it though =/
I've been building up this post for a while now... but I'm sure I've forgotten things I wanted to include! Regardless, enjoy! ...also, Its just given that I miss everyone at home =P just wanted to post about 'things'. =)

Things I miss…
~Free Laundry. It is so damn expensive here =/
~My cell phone. The one I have here really stinks and is unreliable =/
~Cheap things. Everything is so expensive and costly here =/
~Dogs. =P Dogs are everywhere here! I just want to love them but I can’t! =/
~My baby! I’ve only seen blue bugs around actually! Makes me miss her, and driving =/
~Hugs.

Things I’m going to miss…
~The unique-ness of my name =) I said it in a previous post that my name is unique here and I love it! =D
~Traveling =) yes I can travel at home, but not to a completely different culture in a short period of time.
~Goldsmiths =) I love my new school, it’s so laid back and interactive! Also an 8 hour per week class schedule is always nice ;)
~Cider =) It is like beer here, but a sweet delicious beer that the states doesn’t have.
~Club Sandwich =) This is the club in the Student Union on Wednesdays. It’s cheap, has a good crowd, and great music!
~Sainsburys =) it’s the Wal-Mart of England, but a much better version =P
~English accents =) duh!
~The Tube =) even though it’s so expensive, it’s so convenient and efficient.

Things I’m not going to miss…
~The British Pound. The dollar is worthless compared to the pound. The exchange rate is killing me. One pound = A dollar fifty. That adds up quick… like ten pounds is $15, twenty pounds is $30, and thirty pounds is about $47. Ouch. Everything is priced as it would be in the states; so it’s expensive. Ugh.
~Crowds.

Fun Facts
There are Foxes around my building; they are always out just hanging around.

EVERYTHING is under construction for the Olympics.

Cross walks are called ‘Zebra crossing’.

A subway here is an underground walkway.

The music is all pretty familiar; they play a wide variety of everything! They are really big on Michael Jackson and the Baywatch theme song! Haha Also this song… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1mGWhLwu64

Fanny is a bad word here... so saying 'Fanny Pack' is even worse!

People wear absolutely anything here, it isn’t so much being in style- people just wear whatever they want. Which, I guess has become a style itself.

It has only rained twice since I've been here.

Everything is very environmentally friendly and organic, yet there is so much litter at times.

British credit cards are 'inserted' into the machine, not swiped. Also, they are very big on checking the signature on the back, even your name to your id. This proves a lot of problems whenever I try to use my 'Travel Card'- a card more suitable for traveling so your identity will not get stolen.

Random
Nobody seems to have an adventurous spirit similar to mine =( Don’t know why they went abroad then! Didn’t expect that =/

Although Goldsmiths is laid back, I feel that it is more challenging than education at home. Here you have to form and express your own opinions about things; be able to expand on things that were talked about and read about- not just regurgitate information like my entire educational career in the states.

There are programs where you can 'study abroad' for 3 weeks. That just seems like a long vacation to me. You aren't part of a school and you don't really adjust to living there in that amount of time. Annoys me =P

I'm going to Dublin on February 14-16th =D

My sleeping habits are terrible here! =( I need to take less naps!

V&A
I went to the Victoria and Albert Museum today! =) it is diffidently my favorite museum so far =)
My favorite piece <3
